Contractor License Flyer – inaccurate Information

Posted on Apr 24 in Member Blog

Good Morning All,

There is a flyer that is being passed along with some inaccurate information regarding Contractors Licensing in the State of Florida. SB 1142 added 4 subcategories to the Voluntary Marine Specialty license, however it did not amend/change any verbiage to the existing Certified Building Contractor or Certified Residential Contactors licenses. So while the flyer being distributed states the CBC or CRC can not complete or pull permits for marine work, that is incorrect. CBC licenses can continue with the same Marine work as previous as well as the CRC continuing to be able to build/repair single family residential docks & seawalls.

Once the current session in Tallahassee has completed, we hope to receive additional guidance direct from the CBIC.
